Ways To Connect:

  • Contact: info@lumc.net

Service is at the heart of our faith journey at Lakewood UMC. We invite you to any of the following, whether you’re interested in participating just once or on a more regular basis. Below are just a few of the ways you can plug in:

    Community Garden

In our efforts to be a more sustainable community and good neighbor, we host a community garden on our property. If you have a green thumb or just like being outside, we have a spot for you to help out here!

    Delores Project

The Delores Project partners with individuals experiencing barriers to housing to identify their path to stability. Lakewood UMC provides a monthly meal for 50 of our unhoused neighbors and always welcome those interested in serving or in contributing food.

    Jeffco Eats

Lakewood UMC hosts Jeffco Eats, a program designed to tackle the root causes of hunger by providing healthy, nutritious food to families and children in our community, with a special focus on meeting the needs for weekend food in high population of food-insecure children in Jeffco Schools. Jeffco Eats distributes food on Fridays and welcomes new helpers.

    Genesis Gallery

Our Genesis Gallery brings together artists from various walks of life and seeks to help artists flourish in our little neck of the woods. We are always looking for volunteers to help with welcoming visitors, processing sales, and hang and take down exhibits.

    Recovery Works

Our United Women in Faith regularly prepare meals for Recovery Works, which provides access to resources, community, and recovery to our unhoused neighbors.

    Local School Support

We work with local schools to help with family support, including an Angel Tree and attending school meetings as community representatives.

    A/V Team

We always need tech-savvy folks to help us with Sunday morning and special services!

    Worship Team

Like any church, there are a host of volunteers who, behind the scenes, make our services special. Get in touch if you have ideas or would like to contribute.

    Men’s Group

The men’s group meets every other Wednesday on Zoom to share, connect, learn, and grow.

    Work Teams

We only exist because of the hard work and dedication of our wonderful volunteers. From gardening and cleaning to bookkeeping and attending community meetings, there’s a way you can put your passion to work at Lakewood UMC.

    Intergenerational Activities

Whether it’s on Sunday mornings or during our special events like Bingo, chili cookoffs, Blessing of the Pets, Genesis Gallery openings, and more, we offer a number of ways for you and your family to plug in and feel connected across generations.

    Youth Group

Lakewood UMC is part of the Westside Youth Group which meets weekly, holds special events like lock-ins and retreats, offers service opportunities and plenty of time for fun.

“Being Methodist” Introduction to Methodism Class - Register Here

On April 19, Pastor Ben will be leading a 5 week study after worship that is a deep (relevant!) dive into Methodist History, Teachings, and what being Methodist means to us today. If you have ever been interested in what the “Methodist” in our name means, or want to be a part of our community as a member, this class is for you!

April 19: "Where We Came From" A crash course through United Methodist History
April 26: "What We Believe" How we understand who God is to us, and who we are to God
May 3: "How We Live" What does it mean to live out our faith as United Methodists
May 10: "Where We Stand" What does our church have to say about what is going on in the world
May 17: "Being Methodist Today" How does our church work at the local, regional, and global level and what is our part in it

    Intersections

Starting in April, Pastor Ben will host a monthly discussion on how our faith intersects with what is happening in the world today. This is a conversation that will not shy from uncomfortable topics, and is a place where people can come as they are. Doubt is welcome, disagreement is encouraged, and full discussions means we are accomplishing our goal of sharing honestly about the intersections between our faith and the world around us.

Qi Gong in the Genesis Gallery

You are invited to come to this time of therapeutic and even spiritual movement that is accessible no matter your age or physical ability. The cost is $10.

Schedule a Conversation with our Pastor

Feel free to schedule a time to meet with our pastor to discuss your faith, or anything else you would like to discuss with a Pastor! Just click here to set up an appointment.

    Men’s Group

Every week on Wednesdays, a group of men meet on Zoom for fellowship and discussion. Please contact Gary Dyer if you are interested in joining for the zoom link to the discussion: gldbigg@comcast.net

  • Contact info@lumc.net with any questions you have about Worship at LUMC!

    Worship

We worship every Sunday morning at 10am in our Sanctuary. Our facility is ADA accessible and we have assisted hearing devices for those who need them.

Prior to worship at 9:30am our Genesis Gallery is open for fellowship, coffee and donuts are available.

    Music

We worship singing hymns out of our United Methodist Hymnals, and are led in worship by our Chancel Choir. The music we have in worship is primarily meant to be participatory and accessibility for singing is a value we cling to when choosing the songs we sing every Sunday. If you are interested in singing with our choir, please contact ashleigh@lumc.net.

We believe every child and young person is beloved, whole, and made in the image of God. As a progressive congregation committed to justice, compassion, and service to others, all of our Children, Youth, and Family programs are designed to partner with families, meeting you where you are and honoring who you are as we grow in faith together.

We aim to create welcoming spaces, both inside and beyond the church, where every young person can grow, belong, and live out their faith in ways that serve the world around them.

    CHILDREN’S PROGRAM

During worship services, we welcome kiddos aged 3-10 to join us for Children’s Church for crafts and lessons.

We also offer a Summer Peace Camp for kiddos from age 3-5th grade. Peace Camp is a three-day program for kids to learn how peace is the root of our faith journey, how to live more peacefully, and to how to model peace in their community.

    YOUTH (Grades 6-12)

LUMC Youth are part of the Westside Youth Group, a joint youth group serving the UM churches on the Westside of Denver. We meet weekly during the school year with a focus on service, study, community, and fun. Whether for a lock-in, a weekend sledding retreat, serving our homeless friends, or our yearly trip to volunteer where needed, we’d love to have you join!
